Dana Williams
There are very few things that Dana enjoys more than playing music… He enjoys the chance to show people something they haven’t seen before. Whether it is learning a song for someone that doesn’t expect it or figuring out a different sound to put through his acoustic guitar. He sees making music as a chance to give back to people that have influenced him whether musically or everyday life. It is more about enjoying the moment musically…
Dana Williams has been playing guitar and singing in establishments around Erie County for nearly 20 years. As lead guitar player and vocalist for the 80’s heavy metal band, French Maide, Dana has played in some of Erie’s hottest night spots. The band recorded two albums and enjoyed much success locally before splitting in 1993. Soon after, Dana and some friends formed Big Brother Bob, a successful Erie County band playing danceable rock and roll, blues and pop songs from the 70’s to current times. Dana and his friends are still playing together, twelve years later! You can still catch Dana with the band, which also features Bob Williams, Mike Comitz and Chris Wienczkowski, at Ashley’s Pub, The Pub in Corry or the Laker Inn throughout the summer months.
Closest to Dana’s heart is his current project. An acoustic one man show which features “looping” technologies and several interesting instruments and harmonies all performed and recorded on the spot, by Dana himself. It gives him a chance to enjoy the moment and create something different each time he plays. His song selection is vast and varied and pleases everyone young and old. Because none of the music is pre-recorded, the audience becomes involved as each song builds to its incredible climax. This unique performance, sets Dana apart from other acoustic acts and is sure to amaze bystanders who won’t believe the sounds produced by one talented artist. This show is a must see!
